Pastor Robby, Purple Pox and Flip-flop

Hi to all the nice cool Michiganders! :)
I just wanted to add a quick note to let my sweet daughter know that the chickens have been ordered and we will be able to get them before we leave. So I will have pictures for you Kylie of some beautifully-made chicken coops and the chickens that go in them (if everything goes as planned). Thank you to Kylie and Steven for so selflessly donating your time, creativity and energy to helping raise the funds for this project. Kylie you inspire me so much and I love your thoughtful heart. (For those of you who are reading this Kylie would like to name a couple chickens Purple Pox and Flip-Flop).
We also had the opportunity to meet Pastor Robby very quickly today. He is a wonderful man and his laugh and love for the Lord are equally infectious. Aaron- I told him who I was and received a very long and strong hug because I was Aaron's wife. He speaks very highly of you and can't wait to see you again.
We are looking forward to going to Pastor Robby's church in the morning and experiencing that.
Please pray for Pastor Steve tomorrow as he will be giving the message and please also pray for a nice cool breeze.
I love you all and miss you very much. Kisses to Aaron, Kylie, Grady, Luke and Laney!
Love, Mommy (Katie)

It's Becky again---(everyone is laughing at me) - We really like it when anyone responds to the blog posts because Crystal reads them to us on the bus ride to the orphanage.
Also - to those who asked me to be a Mom to their kids this week - no worries.  They have found Haitian boyfriends!!  :)

  3. Hey Katie!!
You have no idea how excited I get when you post on the blog. It isn't the same as talking, but it is so cool to have at least a little contact!! I am so glad you got to meet Pastor Robbie. I love that guy and wish I could be with you at his church service tomorrow (even if Steve is speaking!!). There is no doubt in my mind that place with be filled with God's presence. He has an incredible group of people helping him out there.

I stopped home earlier and read your post to Kylie and she was really excited about the chickens. Those kids have had two straight days of being spoiled by grandmas and I think they are on an extreme sugar high because they were bouncing off at the walls at 10pm!! We all love you and miss you very much!!

Grady said to tell you "kisses" and Kylie says to tell you "hugs". We will be praying that God is with Steve and that He sends a cool Michigan breeze your way!!

  5. Praying for you, my Love. I trust you will be completely obedient to speak what God would have you share of His Word to all who will hear you tomorrow. Preach with His power and love! All Glory to our King!

Redgi- give your mom a gentle and long hug from me. I did not get a chance to write out my card for her but she is being thought of and prayed for with lots of love.

'Sailor' please give my babies hugs and squish their cheekers for me :) I expect you to know how to say 'Flip Flop' and 'Purple Pox' in Creole when you get home.

Emily- I am SO excited that you are already planning on heading back to Haiti some day. I love that you get to share this amazing time with your sister.

Sarah- You can go ahead and miss your flight this time since I am not there to blame...just kidding...your mom might be reading this. ;)

Zac- Hope Steven and Jack are not driving you crazy as little 'brothers' can do. I am praying for you!

Anlin- I greatly enjoyed seeing the picture of you with one of the girls. What a blessing you and your smile are! Hope your dad is enjoying it more than he ever imagined.

Bryan- The image I have of you meeting Dejna brings me such joy! Thank you for all your hardwork on the chicken coops.

Holly- I cannot wait to hear more about your trip and have enjoyed the pictures of you as well. It looks as though the excitement stage has hit. I believe God to be moving in and through you.

Kayleigh and Sarah- I am patiently waiting for you to post...but completely trust you are diving in wherever God has you...that is one of the many reasons I love both of you, 'my girls'. :)

Ronni- The pictures look as though you are so comfortable there in Haiti...hope this will not be your last trip. There is slightly less sweat if you go in March (note to Holly too for next time) ;)

Great job to all on the chicken coops...they look great!!! :)

Payton is trying to figure out where Haiti is so she can find Daddy, Nana, Steven, Jack. She was excited to see 'Sailor' in one of the pictures as well. I need to go park Snoopy (the KIA) some where else because every time we pull in the drive way she thinks Daddy is home.

Aunt Becky...you have bombed almost everyone's post...no wonder why they are all laughing! ;) However, I LOVE your heart and all that you have to share.

It is difficult reading the posts as I greatly miss being there with all of you...but I LOVE reading of the many ways you are ministering and are being ministered. God is so good!

  6. Have to add my two cents on the Haitian boyfriends...Becky, do you think you can get someone to let you add to the bottom of the next blog so you can explain that comment!! Plus, I'm sure mom is glad you clarified about the road...you know how she feels about mountain roads in Haiti!

We are so glad you are all taking the every day situations in stride, such as the lack of electricity, hot showers, and probably McDonald burgers. I believe "inspirational" is the word Holly used, and your patience through it all is truly that! And the update on the chicken coops and the baby chicks is good news also. The kids here at home have worked so hard to provide for the kids over there. Great to see that become a reality!

Now a couple of questions of my own...any word on shoe shopping; and where are the postings of pictures. We LOVE to see pictures!

And lastly, Ronni and Becky, Uncle Mike has already scheduled a sharing time around the campfire on Thursday night so the family can hear all of your stories. We can't wait!! Miss you! Karen/Mom

  8. Hi team! I am sitting in my AC lamenting about the laundry I have to do when I logged onto your blog and was humbled and encouraged. I am so grateful that I have clothes to wash and a washer and dryer to wash them in and comfortable AC to sleep in with no concerns about the reliability of water and electricity. I need to be reminded of how blessed I am on a daily basis.! Again I am in awe of the selfless service to these children of God and Haitian people by all of you. Thank you for being ambassadors of our Lord. Thank you for your encouraging posts and inspiring pictures. In His love, Karen.

PS, Ronni I did have you in my wedding wager! But a little Haitian guy, really?
